Spoiler Alert: This DVD is about sisters. That isn’t really a spoiler because the DVD description tells you that. We’re making Blue Steel faces because that’s appropriate for wedding photos. So that was a fun creative process and, you know we came upon this idea that oh my gosh there were two little wisps, we just didn’t see it in the first movie. So then we started the process of what does that mean in this world. Clay Hall who directed Lost Treasure actually said why don’t we just make it her sister. PEGGY: When we originally created Periwinkle it was not Tink’s sister … but it just wasn’t having as much emotional impact.
Tell me a little bit about the process of introducing Tinker Bell’s sister, since we’ve all known about Tinker Bell, she’s the iconic character. So Periwinkle became Periwinkle and Lord Milori … Milori is a shade of blue! So, we decided to research all the different shades of blue and find the names out of that.

And one of the things we wanted to focus on in the movie is that this can’t feel like a Christmas place, it’s not a season winter. PEGGY: I sort of looked at winter photography and I noticed there were so many awesome looking whites and blues. Here's some of the Q & A from the interview:Ĭan you tell us how you picked the names? We've known Tinker Bell all this time and we've never imagined her to have a sibling, but in this film it totally works and the bond between them is immediate. If I didn't know that Tinker Bell's sister was being introduced in this film, I would never have believed it. Secret of the Wings is probably my favorite of the Tinker Bell movies because we get to meet Periwinkle, who is just adorable. Of course, we know going in that it's actually Tinker Bell's sister, Periwinkle, who lives in the Winter Woods, and when they finally meet, both their worlds change forever. The Winter Woods, where it stays winter year-round, is a world completely detached from Tinker Bell and her friends, and they are forbidden to go there because it's simply too cold for their wings, which can't be repaired if broken. Tinker Bell just knows that there's something drawing her into the Winter Woods, and she's determined to find out why her wings sparkled the day she helped Fawn bring the animals to the border for hibernation. In Secret of the Wings, we learn that winter is not really a season, but a place- completely separate from Pixie Hollow. If you've been following the Tinkerbell films, this installment is played out in winter - For reference, Tinker Bell was set in spring, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure was set in fall, and Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue was set in summer. It's hard to believe that we're now onto the fourth Tinker Bell movie, Secret of the Wings. I remember a few years ago, when the first Tinkerbell movie debuted- we were both super excited that Tinker Bell was finally getting her chance to shine. As I type this, she's in the next room gluing fairy wings on all of her Littlest Pet Shop pets.

Having a young daughter who adores fairies will open you to a world full of pixie dust. I'm no stranger to the Tinker Bell movies.
